Baby M - Newborn Photos and Baby Naming

Back in December, I had the pleasure of meet Cathy, Todd and their new baby girl. We did a newborn session at their home and she was wide awake and happy the whole time! And then a few weeks later I had the privilege of photographing her baby naming. It was a beautiful ceremony held at Cathy's parents' house and it was wonderful learning more about the amazing people in their family for whom she was named.

It was so much fun to do a shoot for this lovely family. Yael and Tamar wanted photos of everyone together - sisters, husbands, dad, and cutie pie cousins - so we took the opportunity of Tamar, Josh and Ayelet's visit to Los Angeles to make it happen. And just as I was pulling up this insane fog rolled in!! While usually more overcast skies make for better photos, this fog was something else. It was quite challenging because it was actually pretty bright, but I guess that goes to show that you don't have control over everything the way you want! Anyway, I captured some really sweet shots of this fun group - here are some of my faves!

My dear friends Tamar, Noam and little Judah came back to visit LA from their new home in Charlotte, NC. Tamar and I had been plotting to do some family photos for a few months, since their visit coincided with their wedding anniversary AND Judah's first birthday. So off we went to LACMA - good call on our part going on a Wednesday when they are closed so there was almost no one people around outside - and did some shots at the light pole installation and in the part between the museum and the Tar Pits. It was a great reunion with great friends, and I had so much fun capturing the love and delight of this family.

Valentine's Day is upon us! While I'm inclined to join the "it's an over-hyped Hallmark holiday" camp, I really do get excited by pink candy. And really, I have no problem with celebrating love - whether it's love between partners, parents and children, siblings, or friends, I love capturing these moments. Michelle and Ethan

I had the pleasure to meet up with Michelle and Ethan on a beautiful and warm Sunday afternoon in Venice. Michelle came to me through our friend Rachael and wanted pictures of her and her son. Ethan was the sweetest kid, and we all enjoyed strolling up and down Abbot Kinney and exploring the Venice Canals. I just love the fun colors and textures of that area, and this little guy and his mama were perfect subjects!

New Year, New Changes

Well, 2011 was a bit cloudy in my world but the best silver lining was starting this business. Thank you to everyone who helped make it successful and give me the confidence and inspiration to forge ahead with this venture. I look forward to capturing more beautiful moments for you and your family and friends in 2012!

With the new year comes some changes. First, look up at the URL address bar...yup, I purchased the domain name www.silverliningphotosbykim.com! The Blogspot address will still work, but it will redirect here. Now my website is even easier to remember!

In the last few weeks, I spent some significant time analyzing my prices and reflecting on the work I've done so far - where my time goes, how much I spend shooting vs. editing vs. general business development, and what I end up giving my clients. So I have adjusted my prices accordingly, and I hope that you will still find it to be affordable and of high quality. I am also offering some new packages and sessions so please take a look. And there will be special promotions and deals to come throughout the year, so stay tuned!
